Help Movie Text

ADDING DIGITAL IMAGES                   PARTS ONE AND TWO

PART ONE

Adding your digital images to the template is the second step in creating a customized web page with PixMatrix.  No matter which of the PixMatrix templates you select, your images will appear where the image placeholders are found.  Any images you add beyond the number of image placeholders found in the template will be displayed following a set pattern.  This pattern will depend upon the original layout of the template you select.

Once a template theme is selected, press the ‘Add images’ button.  Select ‘Add/remove image’ and a new window showing the files on your computer will appear.  Navigate to your digital images and choose those you want to feature on your web page by choosing an image or group of images and selecting ‘Add images’.  Images can also be added by double clicking on the image name.  The images you choose for your web page are listed in the box to the right of the  ‘Image preview’.

Once images are chosen, they can be removed from the list of selected images by single clicking on the image name and pressing the ‘Remove images’ button.

You can use the ‘Image preview’ box to view an image by single clicking on the image name.

It is possible to re-order images by dragging and dropping them within the image list.  You may also accomplish this by using the arrow keys found to the right of the ‘Image preview’ box.

If you customize a template then want to re-use it featuring different images without losing the existing layout, single click on the replacement image and single click on the image to be replaced in the selected image list.  By pressing the ‘Replace images’ button, the image in your folder replaces the select image in the list.

Note that removing or replacing images in the selected images list will not alter your original image files on your computer.

After completing your selection of images, press ‘OK’.  This window will close and your selected images will replace the image placeholders on the template.

PART TWO

This Help movie will cover modifying your images.

To change the way your images appear on your PixMatrix web page, choose the ‘Modify image’ button.  This will open a new window with a list of your selected images on the left.  The image download time and assorted editing tools are located on the right.  By double clicking on an image, you can automatically open the 'Modify image' window with the image selected.

To change the size of a single image, single click on the image you want to modify.  Under the ‘Size’ tab, use the slider to make the images smaller or larger depending upon your preference.  To resize all of the images, use the ‘Select all’ button found under the list of images.  Smaller images mean faster download times.

Similarly, to change the quality of an image select the ‘Compress’ tab and use the slider tool as previously described.  By reducing the quality, you reduce the clarity and file size of an image allowing for faster downloads.

Each of the images can be rotated to the left, right, top and bottom using the ‘Rotate’ tab.

To adjust the brightness of a images, choose the ‘Brightness’ tab and adjust your images according to your preference.

When you are through with these steps, press ‘OK’ to close the window and return to your modified web page.

You may also create small images called ‘thumbnails’ that link to larger images.  This is useful when you have a large number of images to display but do not want a lengthy download time.  To create thumbnail images, press the ‘Use thumbnails’ button.  Your images will automatically be converted to thumbnail images with instructions to click on the image for a larger version of the image.  You may edit both the thumbnail and images to which they link from the ‘Modify images’ window by selecting the ‘View list of large images’ or ‘View list of thumbnail images’ buttons.

To undo the thumbnail version of your images, press the ‘Use thumbnail’ button and your originally modified images will be restored.

In addition to the methods previously shown, there are ways to manipulate the tables and images directly on the page.  The original table size of each template can be changed by clicking on the table border.  Small white boxes will appear on the top, sides, and bottom.  To change the table size, select one of these boxes and, holding down your left mouse key, drag the table to resize it.  This same action can also be applied to the images.  Simply click on the image and use the small white boxes that appear to resize the image.

Both images and text can be deleted from the page.  For text, highlight the section you want to delete and press the ‘Delete’ key on your computer keyboard.  Images can be deleted by single clicking on them then pressing the delete key.

By double clicking on image, you can automatically open the ‘Modify image’ window with the image selected.
