QUICK
START
Once you have
transferred your digital images to your computer, you are ready to create a
web page using PixMatrix.
There are five
easy steps in the PixMatrix process: ‘Choose theme’, ‘Add images’, ‘Change
text’, ‘Upload to web’, and ‘Use page’. A green arrow indicates which
of the five steps is currently active.
o Choose theme
The first
step is to choose a web page theme. For this demonstration, the
default template will be used. This template can be changed to any of
the over 250 original PixMatrix templates by pressing the ‘Open template’
button.
o Add images
The second step
is adding your digital images to the selected template. This
is done by clicking the ‘Add images’ button. Select ‘Add/remove image’ and
a new window showing the files on your computer will appear. Navigate to
your digital images and choose those you want to feature on your web page by
single clicking on the image name and selecting ‘Add images’. The images
you choose for your web page are listed in the box to the right of the
‘Image preview’. After completing your selection, press ‘OK’.
This window will close and your selected images will replace the image
placeholders in the template.
o Change text
Customizing
your web page text is the third step in the process. Select the ‘Change
text’ button. Holding your left mouse button down, drag your cursor across
the template text that you want to change. While the area is highlighted,
type in the text as you would like for it to appear on your web page.
Text can also
be deleted by selecting and pressing the ‘Delete’ key on your keyboard.
o Upload to web
Now that your
template is customized, you are ready for the fourth step—uploading to your
web space. To do this, select the ‘Upload to web’ button. A message will
appear asking if you want to save the changes you made to your web page. If
you are ready to proceed, select ‘OK’.
To upload your
page to the web, press the ‘Quick post’ button. You are then asked to
specify into which web folder you would like for your newly created web page
to appear. Leave this location blank to upload the web page to the
main web folder. Press ‘OK’ to begin the transfer of your web page
from your computer to your web space. A progress indicator will show
the remaining upload time. When this process is complete, press ‘OK’
then select the ‘Use page’ button.
o Use page
Once
your customized page is complete and uploaded to your web space, the page
can be put to a variety of uses. To learn how to use your web page
with online auctions select the ‘Online Auction’ link following this movie.
To e-mail a link containing your web page address, press ‘Get page address’.
A text box will appear saying the web address is ready to be pasted into an
e-mail. By going into your e-mail program and pasting the web address
into a message, you can share you newly created web page with others.
