FILE TOOLS

During each step of the PixMatrix process, a series of file tools are available for use.  This movie will provide an overview of their functionality.

Changing home page

When you start PixMatrix, it automatically displays a page.  This home page can be changed to any page created with PixMatrix.  To change your home page, open the desired page and simply press the down arrow associated with the ‘Load default page’ button, symbolized by an orange house, and select ‘Set home page’. You can open a new copy of your home page at any time by pressing the ‘Load default page’ button.
  o Open an existing page

To open a previously completed PixMatrix web page, use the ‘Open an existing page’ button symbolized by an opening folder.  This will open another window where you can navigate to your existing web page.  The buttons on the left side of the window allow quick access to specific folders.  To open the page, single click on the page name and press ‘Open’.  This will open your page in PixMatrix where it can be modified.
o Save current page
Saving your web page with PixMatrix is easy.  You can save your web page during any step using the ‘Save current page’ button symbolized by a computer disk.
Find specific text
It is possible to locate text on the web page by using the ‘Find specified text’ button symbolized by binoculars.  Pressing the button will open a new window that asks what to find.  Type in the word or phrase for which you are searching then press the ‘Find next’ button.  You can refine your search using the options listed.  You can immediately make changes to the text by clicking on the template, highlighting the word or phrase to be modified, and inserting your change.  To return to the search tool, click on the window and press ‘Find next’ to continue your search or ‘Cancel’ to close the window.
o Cut the selection and put it on the clipboard
You can cut selections from the template and put them on a clipboard for later use.  To do this, hold your left mouse button down and drag your cursor across the template selection you want to cut.  Press the ‘Cut template selection’ button symbolized by scissors and the highlighted selection will be cut from the template and placed on the clipboard.  Pressing ‘Ctrl+x’ on your keyboard will also work.
Copy the selection and put it on the clipboard
Template selections can also be copied and placed on the clipboard.  To do this, highlight the selection to be copied and press the ‘Copy template selection’ button symbolized by two documents.  Pressing ‘Ctrl+c’ on your keyboard will also work.
Insert clipboard contents

Selections placed on the clipboard can be inserted into templates by using the ‘Insert clipboard contents’ button symbolized by a clipboard and document.  With your cursor, click on the location where you would like the clipboard contents to appear then press the ‘Insert clipboard contents’ button.  Pressing ‘Ctrl+v’ on your keyboard will also work.
