CHANGING WEB PAGE TEXT

This movie will demonstrate the variety of ways PixMatrix can display your web page text.  Each PixMatrix template comes with one or more spaces designed to accommodate your text message.  This space is indicated by the text placeholder ‘Insert your text here’.  To enhance the customization of PixMatrix templates, text can also be added anywhere on the page.

To change existing text within a template, begin by selecting the ‘Change text’ button.  Holding your left mouse button down, drag your cursor across the template text that you want to change.  While the area is highlighted, type in the text as you would like it to appear on your web page.  Text can also be deleted by selecting it as indicated above and pressing the ‘Delete’ key on your keyboard.

Text types

There are two types of text spaces: text that is tied to an image and ‘fixed’ text space.  To recognize text tied to an image look at the gray cell box surrounding the image or image placeholder.  If text appears within this box, it will be associated with the image.  If you type inside an image’s ‘region’ the text is tied with the image and will be moved or deleted with the image.  All text not within an image region is ‘fixed’.  Since the images were rearranged, notice that the tied text accompanied the moved images.

Template text can be modified in a variety of ways.  No matter how you want to modify the text, it is necessary to highlight it by holding your left mouse button down while dragging your cursor across the text.

Change text font and size

To change the text font, highlight the text you want to modify.  With the text highlighted, go to font list box.  Using the down arrow associated with this box, you can view the types of fonts available for your use.

To change the font size, highlight the text as previously described and go to the text size list box.  Using the down arrow, select a new size.

Bold, italicizing, and underlining text

Text can also be modified by bolding the text.  To do this, highlight the section of text to be bolded, then press the bold button, symbolized by a bolded ‘B’ (B).

To italicize the text, highlight the text to be modified then select the italic button, symbolized with an italicized ‘I’ (I).  Text can be underlined by highlighting the text and selecting the underline button, represented by an underlined ‘U’ (U).

Change text color

To change the color of text, hold down your left mouse button and drag your cursor across the template text that you want to modify.  While the area is highlighted, choose a new color by pressing the ‘Text color’ button symbolized by a ‘T’ with a dash of color underneath (T).  Additional colors are available by pressing the down arrow associated with this button. By selecting ‘More colors’, you will be shown a color wheel from which you can make your selection using your mouse then pressing ‘OK’.  You can create a customized color by pressing ‘Custom’, selecting a new color, then pressing ‘OK’.  Additionally, you can use the color dropper which allows you to choose a color by clicking on the dropper button with your left mouse button and, while holding the mouse button down, selecting a color from anyplace on the open template.  When you release the mouse button, the currently selected color becomes the default.

Add an Internet link

Adding a link to a web page, also known as a hyperlink, can be accomplished by highlighting the text you want to have associated with the link and selected the HTML link button, symbolized by two links of a chain.  This will open a new window asking for the appropriate hyperlink information such as a web site address.  After completing this information, select the ‘OK’ button to close the window. To edit an existing hyperlink, drag select it and press the HTML link button.

Indenting text

Template text can be indented by highlighting the text to be moved and selecting either the increase indent button or the decrease indent button.

Aligning text

Text with a table cell can be aligned in one of three positions: left justified, centered, or right justified.  To align text, highlight the text to be moved then select the appropriate alignment button.

Spell check

Spell checking your web site text is easily done in PixMatrix.  Simply press the spell check button.  This will open a new window allowing you to modify your spelling.  When the spell check is complete, you will be asked to press the ‘OK’ button to close the window.  You can modify your PixMatrix spell checker preferences by using the down arrow associated with the spell check button.  With this menu you can change your spell checker’s options, add words to your personal dictionary, or choose between installed spell check languages.
